Birthday Party Tips: Some party games

Hello boys and girls!

Well as you all know I LOVE birthdays, so I’m going to share with you some of the games I love to play at parties!  These games are great fun and easy to organise for parents.

Pass the Parcel

You will need

  • a few prizes (depending on how many times you want to play!)
  • lots of old newspapers and sellotape
  • some music

How to play:

  • wrap each of the prizes up in at least 10 layers of newspaper
  • all the boys and girls should sit in a circle on the floor
  • get a grown up to do the music – wear a blindfold or turn away while stopping and starting to avoid favouritism!
  • when the music starts the birthday boy or girl passes the parcel to the person beside them and so on
  • when the music stops whoever has the parcel must take off one layer of paper
  • when the music starts again, pass the parcel around until it stops – keep going until the last layer of paper is gone.  Whoever takes it off wins!!!!

Musical Statues

You will need

  • Music
  • A few prizes
  • A judge with eagle eyes!

How to play

  • All the boys and girls stand in a cleared out space with room to boogie (the dancefloor!)
  • When the music starts everyone must dance
  • when the music stops everyone must stay as still as a statue
  • the judge will take a look and anyone he/she catches moving is out!
  • start the music again and stop now and again
  • the winner is the last one dancing and gets a prize

Well that’s all for now boys and girls – keep an eye out for more birthday party tips!  And if there is anything you would like to share with Bosco – if you know a game or you’d like pictures of you on your birthday posted on my website just let me know!!

Hello boys and girls!

Well I really need to get my act together with this blogging business! So, I’ve decided to share with you some great tips for holding birthday parties, since I LOVE parties!

This week I’m sharing my super recipe for fairy cakes or buns (whatever you like to call them!).

So here we go…

You will need:

a bowl and wooden spoon
a electric mixer (optional)
paper cases & a bun tray
a wire tray for cooling

  • a grown up to help you
  • a bowl and wooden spoon
  • a electric mixer (optional)
  • paper cases & a bun tray
  • a wire tray for cooling
  • 175g/6 tablespoons Self Raising Flour
  • 125g/4 tablespoons Caster Sugar
  • 125g Margarine (half a block)
  • 2 Eggs
  • 2 tablespoons cold water

For Decorating:

  • Nutella or icing made with icing sugar and water
  • Hundreds and thousands, cherries, candied jellies, chocolate vermicelli, smarties…whatever you like!

What to do

  1. Ensure oven is fully preheated to 200°C, Gas 6 (be very careful of the hot over boys and girls!)
  2. Next, put bun paper cases into bun tins.
  3. Put the flour (sieved), sugar, margarine, eggs and water into a bowl. Beat all the ingredients together with an electric mixer or wooden spoon until the mixture is smooth.
  4. Put heaped teaspoons of the mixture into each bun case.
  5. Place in the oven on the top shelf and bake for about 15 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Cool on a wire tray. When cold, spread Nutella or icing on the top and add your favourite topping.

Enjoy your buns girls and boys!  If you want to send me in any pictures of your own creations please do and I’ll put them up on my website.
